Defining a talent

Among the attempts made to define sporting talent, we find a static concept and a dynamic concept :

The static definition summarizes talent through the following four points: (Joch 1992, 83)

1. Determination of capacity,

2. Anticipating willingness to progress,

3. The social environment which determines opportunities and

4. Result (performance) reflecting the actual level.

The dynamic definition of talent is based primarily on the following three points:

1. Process of active transformation,

2. Driving the process though training and competition and

3. Educational Monitoring.

According to Joch (1992, 87) talent development is a process of active transformation, which is the subject of educational monitoring and controlled by training, thus providing the foundations of a high-performance (sporting) level, to be reached later.

Our association identifies and seeks out subjects who have talent, and on the basis of their dispositions, performance capabilities and the actual conditions of their environment achieve a level of performance (if possible verified by competition) higher than the average for their age. This is the culmination of a process of active transformation, followed pedagogically, directed by training and oriented towards a superior level of (sporting) performance.

Encouragement of talent

By encouragement of talent we mean measures which must be taken for the development of fitness and tennis-specific techniques, especially among young and talented athletes.

Detection, identification, selection and preservation of talents are integral parts of the encouragement of talent and this is the subject of a long-term, systematic and varied process. This incentive is based on the principles and laws of development (transformations).

Encouraging talent is also a selection process. One of the processes of encouraging talent is that training and competition form a whole (the training principles are reflected in competition). The encouragement of sporting talent is oriented towards attaining the best possible individual long-term performance.

Without your help, the process of encouragement and the measures to be taken for development cannot be implemented. Thank you for helping those who cannot help themselves. To help them, Click here.
